Atlas Mountains Day Trips from Marrakech

The mountains start an hour from Marrakech and the temperature drops several degrees with them. Ourika is the closest and the cheapest way to see the High Atlas properly - Berber villages, an argan cooperative and a guided walk to the Setti Fatma waterfalls. Ouirgane is the quiet alternative, the same mountains with a fraction of the visitors. Ouzoud is further out and a different thing entirely: 110 m of waterfall in three tiers, the tallest in North Africa.

All three are day trips with a hotel or riad pickup and a traditional lunch, and all three are back in Marrakech the same evening. Ourika is the shortest at 7 to 9 hours, Ouirgane runs 8 to 10, and Ouzoud is the long one at 10 to 12 with roughly five hours of driving - worth knowing before you choose.
